Changing times

It’s been a challenging time for us all as we navigate our way in and out of lockdowns, hot spots, putting masks on and taking them off not only here in Canberra but across the country. We’re getting used to new ways of doing things and new ways around things! For those of you in our closed Stitch and Share Facebook group you’ll be seeing our stitchers take on new projects – Kerry’s daughter making her first quilt, Therese tackling the fun of making custom fit underwear and Toni putting the yarn down to do some free stitching. We love what you are sharing and so if you haven’t already, join our free closed group here. While we can’t open...

A LONG OVERDUE UPDATE!

Well here we are in November – I’m not sure if this year has gone fast or slow! You might feel the same. We’ve been keeping our heads down over the past couple of months as we navigate a new world beyond lockdown but still living with COVID. It’s been a whirlwind ride. The store has been kept busy and we are loving having our classes full again and so many of you joining us regularly as we stitch this year away! Like many other retailers we’ve also have to deal with the frustrations of stock shortages, delays in transport and the uncertainty of what will arrive when. Our crochet club members have borne the brunt of this as we...

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

Wow, I can’t believe it was only 6 weeks ago that I last wrote here. It feels like a lifetime ago. So much has changed since mid-May and I’ve loved watching our store slowly but surely come back to life. We are back to full day trading hours and scheduling classes again. We’ve even received the parcel of wool from the United States that we have been waiting on to finish the second half of the Afghan we’re making in the Crochet Subscription Club! We have reopened all our regular classes with the Knit & Crochet with Support Evening one starting up again on the 11th of August. It’s been lovely having the store filled with the buzz of sewing...

Change is in the air

Hasn’t the world changed in six short weeks?  It’s hard to believe that 6 weeks ago the bottom fell out of our normal.  For me, as a nurse (and thank you for all the facebook love by the way on international nurses day!) the way I do my job changed overnight and as a mother I had my very first Mothers Day without my kids due to the travel restrictions between state borders. For us here at the shop we had to cancel classes, make changes to our crochet subscription club due to wool supply issues from the US and make the difficult decision as to whether to keep the shop open or shut it down. I am so pleased...

The Need to Stitch

What a crazy year this has been with bushfires, hail and now the corona virus. More than I ever I find I am seeking sanctuary in my stitching. It's a time where I get to retreat from the craziness around me and get lost for a little while before it all starts again. As many of you are now aware we have had to reduce our retail hours and I suspect it won't be long until we can't offer in-store classes either. Please be assured that we are working hard to make sure that we all get through this intact even if that means doing thinks differently and thinking about things in new and innovative ways.  Two of the big...
